The School of Management, Information Technology & Governance is based on the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses, and also offers limited support and modules to students based at Howard College. It is the largest school in the College of Law and Management Studies, and the second largest school overall at UKZN.

The School offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the following Disciplines:

  • Information Systems and Technology
  • Public Administration/ Governance

The School also offers a range of degrees for alternative learners after hours via its Self Funded Teaching Programme (SFTP) at both the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses.

Professor Betty C Mubangizi

     

Professor Mubangizi is Full Professor of Public Administration and Governance and is an NRF – rated researcher with over 40 publications. 
In 2015 and 2016 she was seconded to the College of Humanities where she served as Interim Dean of the School of Built Environment and Development Studies.
She is a member of the scientific committee of the Comparative Research Programme on Poverty (CROP) based at the University of Bergen in Norway. This eight-member committee is appointed by the International Social Science Council and is responsible for shaping and monitoring the scientific goals of CROP. 
Prof Mubangizi is an external Editor of the Loyola Journal of Social Sciences and responsible for the July December Issue of this bi-annual Journal.
Prof Mubangizi brings to this portfolio a career total of 20 years of teaching in a tertiary environment, an understanding of needs of students from various backgrounds and a passion for excellence in teaching and learning underscored by reflective practice. Further, she has successfully supervised Doctoral and Masters Students and serves as external examiner for many universities.
