Biography

Dr Kressantha Perumal is a lecturer in the field of marketing. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in education and marketing. She currently lectures the Introduction to Marketing and Special Topics in Marketing modules at the undergraduate level and the Business-to-Business Marketing module at the postgraduate level and has supervised a number of postgraduate students in different areas of marketing.

Dr Perumal believes strongly that teaching requires a level of self-analysis and that academics must provide an education that is meaningful and able to generate the kind of critical thinking that is required of UKZN graduates. She has contributed to the discipline of marketing, specifically marketing education, in a way that generates an improved understanding of pedagogy relating to what we do as educators, how we do it and why we do it. Her doctoral research activity centres around these broad themes and will serve as the basis for her future work in this area of interest. Her research interests are Marketing Education, Social Media Marketing, Sustainability Marketing, Green Marketing, Artificial Intelligence in Marketing, Consumer Behaviour and Organisational Behaviour.
