In our programmes, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and active community of scholars and researchers, students and professors alike, who are addressing a wide range of current issues and interests in the domains of Management, IT & Governance. The School of Management, IT and Governance offers various qualifications across its disciplines including Doctorates, Masters (by Research), Masters (by Coursework), Honours and Postgraduate Diplomas in Pietermaritzburg and Westville Campuses.
These qualifications are necessary in order to provide the country with a cadre of researchers in Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Information Systems and Technology, Management, Marketing, Public Governance as well as Supply Chain Management who are able to provide strategic and evidence informed guidance and contribute in a scholarly way in addressing local, regional and global issues related to the above disciplines.
The graduates from these programmes should contribute in generating and/or broadening the knowledge base in the selected area of study and influence discipline related policies and practices. These programmes will also enable students to develop and become effective and skilled researchers and to become research orientated in their on-going professional development. The programmes will equip the candidate with the knowledge and the skills necessary for employment or further research.
Admission to postgraduate studies in the School of Management, IT and Governance is highly competitive. We accept a limited number of applicants each year. In view of this, even if you meet the minimum entry requirements, you may not get a place on the programme of your choice.
