David Sarpong

Research Interest: Drawing on Heideggerian-Wittengsteinian approach to ‘practice’ as a meta-theoretical lens, my research interest lies in the broad areas of strategic and international management. My current research concerns technology and innovation management, strategy-as-practice, strategic foresight, process theory, relationalism and the microstoria of first generation west-African migrants in European cosmopolitan marketplaces.

Summary: I am a Reader in Strategic Management at the Brunel Business School (BBS). Prior to joining BBS, I was a Senior Lecturer in Strategy and International Business at the Bristol Business School, and the Course Director for the UWE Bristol MSc International Management programme. A Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the HSE Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies (2015-2017), I worked on Russia’s Basic Research Program on Global Competitiveness at the National Research University in Moscow (HSE). I am Associate Editor of the Journal of Strategy and Management, and a Co-Convenor of the Annual Doctoral Symposium of the British Academy of Management (BAM), I serve on the BAM Council Sub-Committee of Academic Affairs of Conference and Capacity Building. I have authored 100+ articles in refereed academic journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. I have also edited a book on strategic foresight and innovation management (Routledge).
